Auditions & Casting

Onstage Repertory Theater and B8 Theatre Company will be holding auditions for the 2025 season soon at the Martinez Campbell Theater, 636 Ward St. Martinez CA.  We invite actors of all ages, ethnicities, and gender identities/expressions to audition.  Both companies are volunteer organizations with a $100.00 travel stipend available.

“Comedy Tonight”Auditions

Auditions will be held for the Onstage Repertory Theater’s summer production of  "Comedy Tonight."

We will hold auctions for all persons who have a talent to share, a song, stand up, magic, spinning plates, a short monologue,  soft shoe, tap, skits, tricks, and musical hot licks.  For three weekends.  Block 1 is July 11,12, 13.  Block 2 is July 17-20.  Block 3 is 25-27.

Short rehearsal schedule at the Campbell Theater.  It is anticipated that each block will feature at least 50% different acts.  If you have always want a three or four performance showcase of your talents this is your chance.  Think vaudeville style.    Maximum length of one presentation is 10 minutes.  1-5 minutes are encouraged. We want a fast moving night  featuring as much talent as possible.  Short skits and one act plays will be included. Ongoing character bits to fill in between acts.

Send us you name, contact information and a description, or even a video of what you would like to do.  The only rules: must be funny and suitable for all ages.  In fact all ages are encouraged to perform.  This is going to be fun for all.  Audition dates likely in May on week-end afternoons.   By invitation only so let us know if you want to try out, how many performances you might want to do etc.   There will be no stipend for performing, just the satisfaction of the applause for your personal greatness.

SYNOPSIS

Set in the 1960s, bachelor Bernard has a flat in Paris and is happily engaged to three stewardesses. When his friend Robert comes to stay, weather and a new, speedier Boeing jet disrupt his careful planning. Soon all three stewardesses are in the city simultaneously, and catastrophe looms.

CHARACTERS - DESCRIPTION & AGES

Bernard (30s - 40s): An American bachelor who resides in Paris, working as an architect. Bernard has the air of a "ladies’ man" who believes he has the female sex all figured out. He is charming and attractive, but a seductive scoundrel. He is engaged to all three air hostesses, and uses flight timetables to keep "one up, one down, and one pending," ensuring the women are never in his apartment at the same time… until it starts to unravel.

Robert (30s - 40s): An old friend of Bernard's who travels to Paris from Wisconsin. A shy, sweet, small-town boy, Robert initially disapproves of Bernard's situation-though he can admit it has its advantages. He admires Bernard's ability to keep things balanced. Soon, however, Robert is caught up in the game himself, trying to keep Bernard's plan intact and stop his own anxiety from spinning out of control.

Berthe (age non-specific): Bernard's housekeeper. Berthe is an obedient and meticulous maid, which makes her integral to Bernard's charade, but she isn't shy about voicing her growing dissatisfaction with Bernard's revolving-door lifestyle. Wonderfully sarcastic and blunt. (French accent not required)

Gloria (20s - 30s): Bernard's American fiancée with a strong appetite for love, success, and unique food. She is an air hostess for TWA. Playfully cunning, confident, strong-willed, and not afraid to speak her mind. Politically progressive for the 60s and is often offended when people do not share her opinion. (Optional Southern accent)

Gabriella (20s - 30s): Bernard's Italian fiancée. She is an air hostess for Alitalia. Feisty and seductive, she is incredibly smart and much more independent than she initially appears. (Italian accent required.)

Gretchen (20s - 30s): Bernard's German fiancée. She is an air hostess for Lufthansa. Dominating but loving, she is full of intense passion that can switch between soft and sweet to loud and destructive in a moment. She is both intimidating and yet loveable. (German accent required.)
